Beltronics V965 Vector Radar and Laser Detector
The Beltronics V965 works well detecting a radar source. However, it didn’t pick up photo enforced intersection, police car, or highway patrol car. The manual says the reason it wouldn’t detect a patrol car is because they’ve turn their radar off. Basically, your Beltronic won’t tell you if there is patrol car near by unless they have their radar on. I had some false alarms too. It went off every time you drive by a store front entrance. (Target store). I had false alarms on highways as well as residential areas. The unit is only good for detecting speed traps. If you have a lot of these speed trap encounters in your normal driving routes, the Beltronics will work for you.

I’ve also had many detectors and finally decided to spend good money for a detector that I thought would do the job, (not alot of false alerts ect)well I was really disapointed in this detector- 965. Your supposed to be able to turn off the X band to eliminate the annoying alerts your receive on this band,, Well,after turning it off it still gave audio X alerts.(Yes I read the instructions).Way to many false alerts, the unit is heavy and bulky, windshield mount is not a winner either.The best thing about this detector was getting rid of it!! Seriously,as I said above I have had many detectors, (2nd Bel) and I’m not a “rookie” when it comes to using them, but this one, Bel 965 is bad !! Spend the extra bucks and get the Passport 8500 x50.If you need to fill the space in your glove box or under your seat this is the detector for you.

FIRST OFF I JUST WANNA SAY THAT I PUT THIS RADAR DETECTOR IN MY MERCEDES BENZ CONVERTIBLE AND I HAVE TO ADMIT I DO SLIP UP ON A FRIDAY OR SATURDAY NIGHT FROM TIME TO TIME AND JUST BE GETTIN IT !! LOL

I STILL HAVE MY OLD BEL VECTOR 960 AND THAT RADAR WAS A BEAST !! I NEVER GOTTEN A TICKET WIT THAT RADAR AT ALL AND I OWNED THAT ONE SINCE 2004 !!AND IM NEVER SELLIN THAT ONE CUZ ITS BEEN DISCONTINUED !! AND I ALSO OWNED THE BEL VECTOR 916 FROM 2002 TIL 2004 !! I NEVER GOTTEN A TICKET AND I JUS RECENTLY GAVE THAT ONE TO MY SON WHOS AWAY IN COLLEGE AND HE’S BEEN USING IT FOR 2 YEARS AND HE’S A SPEEDER AND HAVE NOT GOTTEN A TICKET AS OF YET ! I owned 2 Bels before this one. The new mounting system stinks. Previously just snapped on, now I have to pay attention and sometimes use both hands to mount it when I’m driving. Have to push down a button to lock it in and adjust forward/back at the same time. Wouldn’t have bought it had I known. Regrets.

I’ve had this detector for just a couple days and already I am greatly pleased with it. So far it has not false alarmed a single time on another detector. It has picked up a few door openers, but that is going by a huge mall area. I’ve tested it with my own K band radar gun and the pickup is incredible. Beltronics is in my opinion the premier brand of detector out there. I researched a lot before purchasing this unit and could not decide which one I wanted until I found this deal on Amazon. Apparently Beltronics is discontinuing this detector unit, but don’t worry if the detector did break during the warranty period they would most likely send you an upgraded version, but most likely it won’t break. For the deal you are getting here, you can’t go wrong. Cheaper than the V955, but getting the same performance as the V995, and close performance to the RX65. If your not in the U.S. and actually need the KU band or actually care about displaying what frequency of radar you are picking up, or want to go super pricey with GPS then the V965 is the way to go.
